L’Albatros=Cleveland’s Best Restaurant

You want to know if a restaurant is truly good, try going there three times in a row, if your expectations are exceeded each time, that’s a pretty good indication.

The first time I walked into L’Albatros (1401 Bellflower Road by CWRU), it was a little over a year ago, just after they opened.  I had heard great things and went in on a whim for an appetizer and a cocktail with friends.  In a world where things are often over-promised and under-delivered, I was pleasantly surprised by not only the flavors and presentation of the French dishes but also the atmosphere and genuine politeness of the staff.

I’ve been to L’Albatros two times since including two nights ago for my wife’s birthday and each time has been better than the last.  Oysters on the half shell, french toast with a balsamic reduction, long wine list, creative cocktails, the list goes on and on.

Chef Zack Bruell, also the creator of Chinato on E.4th st., as well as many other successful ventures, really hit a home run with this place.  The French flavor is something you just can’t find anywhere else.  They know how to do it right and people have taken notice.
